2月12日（木）、都内・八芳園にて記者会見が行なわれ、4・5『OLYMPIA DREAM.8 ウェルター級グランプリ2009 開幕戦』（日本ガイシホール［旧・名古屋レインボーホール］）より開幕するウェルター級グランプリ2009の一部出場選手が発表された。ウェルター級グランプリ2009への出場が決定したのは、桜井“マッハ”速人（日本/マッハ道場）、青木真也（日本/パラエストラ東京）の2選手。また、2・20『DEEP40 IMPACT』（後楽園ホール）にて行われる池本誠知（日本/総合格闘技スタジオSTYLE）vs門馬秀貴（日本/和術慧舟會A-3）の一戦が、同グランプリ出場決定戦として行われることも併せて発表された。さらに、同大会のワンマッチにミノワマンが登場することも決定。会見には、マッハ、青木、ミノワマンが出席し、大会に向けての抱負を語った。この会見の詳細は後ほどUP!!
